My shift happened...
I believe every transformation has a “from” story. Mine began in Chicago and came to a defining moment in the winter of 1994. I was divorced, despairing, and nearly dead. I knew about God, but I did not yet know Him through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Flat on my back in a bed of affliction, I heard God speak to me in my wilderness.
He met me there—but He did not leave me there.
That season began a rebuilding from the inside out. Over time, God helped me confront pain, shame, fear, hiding, and ways of surviving that I had learned to live with as though they were normal. I had to learn that healing did not mean pretending nothing happened. It meant bringing the truth into the light, taking responsibility where necessary, extending forgiveness, and allowing Christ to teach me who I really was.
I answered the call to ministry in 1995 and continued developing my biblical foundation through ministry training, including study through the late Apostle Frederick K. C. Price’s Ministry Training Institute. Through the years, I learned that Scripture is not simply something we quote—it is truth meant to renew our minds, shape our decisions, restore identity, and transform the way we live.
Before ministry became my primary work, I spent more than three decades in the beauty industry as a licensed cosmetologist, educator, entrepreneur, and salon owner. Looking back, even the salon chair was preparation. People trusted me with their stories, struggles, hopes, and hearts, and I learned how to listen, offer godly counsel, and see beyond what was visible.
Today, I am a licensed and ordained minister, Teaching Pastor, author, speaker, and founder of Shift Today Ministries, Inc., where we help believers know Jesus, grow in truth, renew their minds, and live transformed beyond Sunday.
I’m also a proud mom of two sons and Glam to seven grands—two of the titles I treasure most.
My own journey taught me that transformation is not about becoming impressive. It is about becoming aligned with who God says you are in Christ. It is learning to follow Him, allow Him to form you, and then use what He has developed in you to strengthen someone else.
Through Shift Today Ministries, I now get to do that through biblical teaching, prayer, writing, godly counsel, gatherings, and practical discipleship.
I have made many shifts over the years and through many seasons of my life, and I understand what it takes to leave an old life behind and experience a completely new life in Christ—with faith, freedom, purpose, and joy.
That is the heart behind Shift Today.
