Some said Jesus was John the Baptizer. Others said Elijah, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. But when Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answered with the confession that still anchors us today, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
At Shift Today Ministries, we believe and boldly declare that Jesus is Lord—the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
And we don’t want you to know facts about Jesus. We want you to know Him personally—to experience the real, life-giving relationship with God that He has already opened the door for you to receive.
From the beginning, humanity was created in the image and likeness of God. We were designed for relationship with Him, to reflect His nature, walk with Him, and live from His goodness.
Then sin entered the picture, and everything shifted. Our relationship with God was fractured. Our thinking became distorted. Our desires became disordered. Shame, fear, striving, separation, and death entered a story that God had originally called good.
But God did not abandon His creation. He loved us too much for that. So He didn’t stand at a distance yelling instructions at humanity and hoping we could somehow clean ourselves up enough to get back to Him. He came after us. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, straight into the middle of the human mess. Jesus took on flesh, entered our broken condition, lived the life we could not live, and willingly gave Himself for the sin we could never remove on our own. Through His death and resurrection, He dealt with sin at its root and opened the way for us to be reconciled to God.
The Law given through Moses revealed God’s holiness and exposed humanity’s need for a Savior, but it could never transform the human heart or free us from sin by human effort alone. No amount of rule-keeping could rescue us from what was broken within. We could not save ourselves. That’s where Jesus changes everything for good. Just as sin and death entered humanity through one man, Adam, grace and new life came abundantly through one Man, Jesus Christ.
And this is the good news: Jesus did not come merely to improve your behavior. He came to restore relationship, give you new life, and bring you back into alignment with God’s original intention for you.
In Christ, you are invited to know God, walk with Him, grow in truth, and live from the life He freely gives.
You don’t have to work your way back to God. Jesus already made the way.
Now God has us where He wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all His idea, and all His work. All we do is trust Him enough to let Him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join Him in the work He does, the good work He has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing. — Ephesians 2:8–10, The Message
