Speak The Word

Give God the Mic
“But the centurion said, ‘Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.'" Matthew 8:8 (NASB 1995)

Hey Believer,

Have you ever had a whole conversation in your head that nobody else was invited to?.

I remember a season when my mind was hosting full-blown word battles. My thoughts had speeches, rebuttals, closing arguments. A whole courtroom was in there, and I was both the jury and the judge. Sometimes, I even brought snacks.

And the Lord nudged me: Open your mouth. I put My Word there for a reason.

That changed something in me. It was like the atmosphere inside shifted.

In Matthew 8, the centurion understood something powerful about Jesus. He understood His rank, His rule, and His reach. Jesus did not need to physically enter the room for His authority to reach the situation.“

Just say the word.”

The centurion was not trusting positive thinking. He trusted Christ's authority.

And sometimes, that’s exactly where we need to come back to.

We can spend so much time rehearsing the problem in our heads that fear grabs the microphone, writes the script, and puts on a whole production. Meanwhile, God has already handed us something stronger to agree with.

His Word.

This isn’t about pretending nothing is happening. It’s about deciding what gets to have authority over how we think, speak, and respond.

Know His rank. Trust His rule. Believe His reach.

Then, open your mouth and agree with what God has already said.

When fear or doubt starts narrating your future, interrupt it with truth. When your thoughts start building a case for defeat, pause and ask: What does God’s Word actually say about this?

Then say that.

Not louder just to be loud. Not on repeat as if God forgot. Speak the Word because sometimes your soul needs to hear again what your spirit already knows.

This week, pick one Scripture for the area where your thoughts have been the loudest. and your mouth has been the quietest.  Read it. Sit with it. Speak it when fear starts rehearsing the opposite.

Let’s stop letting other voices have the microphone.

Let’s Pray: Father, thank You for the authority of Your Word. Holy Spirit, help me recognize when fear, worry, or old thinking has taken over the conversation in my mind. Remind me of what You have said and give me courage to agree with Your truth. Help me trust the rank, rule, and reach of Jesus in every situation I face. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

We do not have to believe every thought that speaks.

Sometimes, we need to answer back.

If someone came to mind while reading today’s blog, share it and encourage them. And in the comments, tell us what Scripture you are putting back in your mouth this week.

Until then....

Let it linger,
— Nina
