SCRIPTURE:
Mark 10:46-52 (MSG)
They spent some time in Jericho. As Jesus was leaving town, trailed by his disciples and a parade of people, a blind beggar by the name of Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus, was sitting alongside the road. When he heard that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by, he began to cry out, “Son of David, Jesus! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Many tried to hush him up, but he yelled all the louder, “Son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped in his tracks. “Call him over.” They called him. “It’s your lucky day! Get up! He’s calling you to come!” Throwing off his coat, he was on his feet at once and came to Jesus. Jesus said, “What can I do for you?” The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “On your way,” said Jesus. “Your faith has saved and healed you.” In that very instant he recovered his sight and followed Jesus down the road.
DEVO:
Blind Bartimaeus wasn’t just without sight—he was blind-sighted: overlooked, dismissed, stuck near movement but not in it. And many believers aren’t physically blind, but spiritually blind-sided—attending, serving, quoting… while living fragmented inside. Then comes the hinge: “in that very instant… he followed Jesus down the road.” Faith didn’t end at healing—faith became following. That’s identity coherence: spirit, soul, and body aligned enough to move. Some of us want sight, but we’re still wearing the cloak—religion, pride, wounds, fear, comparison, tradition, unteachability. And what you keep covering, you keep carrying. Faith that stops Jesus is simple: See spiritually. Shout strategically. Shed symbolically. Then get on the road.
Direct Challenge:
PRAYER:
Father, open my spiritual eyes. Expose the cloak I am hiding behind. Align my spirit, soul, and body. Give me the courage to cry out when others try to quiet and hush me. Make me whole—fully aligned and fully following. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Direct Challenge:
- What cloak are you still wearing?
- What identity are you clinging to?
- Are you near the road but not on it?
- Are you letting the crowd silence your cry?
PRAYER:
